On the Icknield Way path from Chalgrave church to Wingfield (CHA21) a waymark post had rotted. We replaced that today with a new post. We also cleared vegetation from the intermediate gate of BAT2 and the bridge onto the Lane. This gate does not shut properly. Replaced four broken deck boards on TOD52 the Icknield Way path between Luton Road and Conger Lane. Top tip – mud on the deck boards keeps them moist and therefore aids rotting. By

The bridle gate at Fancott on TOD51 has been repaired. This makes the bridleway more usable by riders. There is still more work to be done on the surface and fence.

I have posted some information about the Theedway which was a historic route across the south the Chalton and Chalgrave which survives today as the Boundway byway and Featherbed Lane. It apparently links with the Icknield Way near the A6, which is a linkage we are seeking to re-establish as part of the M1-A6 link

The tree fell down in the autumn due to Covid-19 only just been able to get down to clear the tree off this well hidden bridleway on the route of the Icknield Way.
Out for a walk generally carry some tools just in case. Came across fallen tree on the Toddington/Chalton parish boundary. After a bit of effort we managed to clear the route. Part of the Icknield Way. It would benefit from some further cutting back.
