Maintenance – March

Cowbridge to Woodcock Wood

Have done a few things on this path (TOD47).

Cleaned the bridge over the River Flit, which revealed a rotten deck board, so replaced the board.

The bridge by Woodcock Wood also had several rotten boards which we have replaced. One of the supports for the handrails was rotting so have used the waymark post as a support.

The waymark post on the top of the hill by Woodcock Wood has also been replaced. The soil around Toddington is a mix of everything, in this hole it was clay! Toddington church is visible on the horizon.

It was also great to meet some walkers who have been following the walks. Thanks for the positive feedback.

Toward the motorway

The path (TOD34) that leaves the Harlington Road/B5120 just beyond the cemetery on the other side of the road runs between a couple of houses, eventually runs to Redhill farm. Someone has cut the brambles on the field edge, which is great. Around the corner at the arable field edge, the waymark post has been knocked over, which is a task for another day. Then at the bottom of the large arable field is a fenced section by Boastings farm. Someone has cut some of the vegetation, but we cut more of the encroaching hedge. The northern end is wet so cutting back the brambles enables more width for walkers but also sun & wind to help dry the path. One of the curious things about the geology of Toddington is that we seem to have a ring of natural springs which affect every path – this one was not too bad! The bridge deck is not in a great condition.
