Over the last few days, we have cleared four bridges on the River Flit and a couple more nearby.
The river Flit between Cowbridge and Fancott. The area has had contractors laying cables which has meant it has been very muddy, but I understand the work is coming to a conclusion and the muddy tracks will be reseeded within the next few weeks. Clearing each bridge helps make the area more accessible.
Further along TOD47 toward Woodcock wood the next bridge also needed clearance. It has several duckboards in need of replacement as the mud, grass and moss has allowed them to decay. The waymark post at the far end of not fixed, it used to be further along the path but has clearly fallen over and needs replacing.
Then on the next path that crosses the river the vegetation was even more established.
The last bridge near the Fancott is this concrete bridge. We met a dog walker from Chalton who advised of further issues, but after an hour of manual cutting we went and had a look, but tasks for another day… there is always another day… and all this vegetation will just regrow!
Then further north by the lay-bys on the A5120 on the Westoning, Toddington, Harlington boundary is another bridge over the river Flit. The path comes out on the Toddington road by Harlington station. After clearing some by hand, had to return with the brush cutter to give the grass & brambles a good clearance. CBC notices indicate that this path will be closed, although it also references the developer will provide an alternative route, so have to see what actually happens.
