Maintenance – to early Sept

Vegetation Clearance

As the dry summer comes to an end we can expect lots of vegetation to grow again.

Done some clearance in “the wet area” toward Chalgrave Manor (TOD79 & TOD99), more to do. The intention is to clear back the vegetation so that the wind and sun can help keep it dry. Although still considering a more long term solution.

Also cut back the vegetation (mostly nettles) on the path beyond Conger Lane (TOD53). Hopefully, if we keep cutting the nettles they will become less prominent. No photos.

Also cleared the hedge line of the path off the B5120 just before you get to the M1 junction from Toddington. These photos would make a really impossible jigsaw puzzle!

The parish council contractor has cut back the cemetery hedge bounding onto the bridleway running up the side. This has opened up this route.

Tree Down and Out

The path (TOD42) from Griffin farm down towards Mill Farm suffered with a tree falling onto the kissing gate. This has landed on the kissing gate. If you were nimble you could get past it. The Buckingham’s have cleared the tree so that it can be walked again. But beware of the fallen crab apples which make parts of this path very slippery! This is part of the Icknield Way path

Handrail replacement

We replaced a section of decaying handrail of the bridge on the path (TOD10) towards what we know as “the show ground field” which eventually reaches Milton Bryan.
